Cillian Murphy reteams with Christopher Nolan for Dunkirk

April 6, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

The Wrap is reporting that Peaky Blinders star Cillian Murphy is reteaming with director Christopher Nolan on his new film Dunkirk.

The new film written by Nolan tells the story of the World War II evacuation of Dunkirk during Operation Dynamo, which saved over 330,000 Allied soldiers from surrounding German forces.

Murphy previously worked with Nolan on The Dark Knight Trilogy, where he played Dr. Jonathan Crane aka The Scarecrow, and in 2010’s sci-fi action-thriller Inception. He joins fellow Nolan favourite Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), Kenneth Branagh (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) and Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies) as part of the supporting cast.

The casting of Nolan’s “lucky charm” Michael Caine shouldn’t be too far away.

Dunkirk stars newcomer Fionn Whitehead, War and Peace stars Aneurin Barnard and Jack Lowden and One Direction singer Harry Styles, and will be shot on both IMAX 65mm and 65mm large-formats. Production begins in May ahead of a release on July 21st, 2017.
