Thanks to the eagle-eyed folks over at MCU Exchange, it is now known that actor Benjamin Bratt will have a role in this year’s Doctor Strange.
Many believed that the cast list for the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe installment had already been released in its entirety, but Bratt’s involvement, which was revealed when his name was spotted at the bottom of the newest Doctor Strange Comic-Con poster, proves otherwise. Who knows, if this bit of casting news was kept secret until now, maybe other actors will pop up on screen and surprise audience members when the movie hit theaters. Currently, the actor’s character in the film is unknown.
Bratt has been working in Hollywood for well over two decades and has starred in projects including Demolition Man, Miss Congeniality, Traffic and Despicable Me 2. This year alone, he has appeared in Ride Along 2, Special Correspondents and The Infiltrator. In fact, Doctor Strange isn’t Bratt’s first role in a superhero movie, as he played a major role in 2004’s much-reviled Catwoman; perhaps Strange can redeem Bratt in the eyes of comic book fans if it reaches the same levels of success as many of the other MCU entries.
Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.
Doctor Strange is set for release on October 28th in the UK and November 4th in the US, with Scott Derrickson (Sinister) with a cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) as Stephen Strange, Tilda Swinton (Snowpiercer) as The Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) as Baron Mordo, Benedict Wong (The Martian) as Wong, Rachel McAdams (True Detective) as Christine Palmer and Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal) as Kaecilius and Benjamin Bratt (The Infiltrator).
