Daniel Craig on whether he’s interested in a return as James Bond

October 9, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Since the release of Spectre last year, there’s been incessant speculation as to who’ll be taking on the role of 007 for James Bond’s 25th big screen adventure – much of it prompted by Daniel Craig’s comments that he’d rather “slash his wrists” than return for another outing.

We’ve heard reports about a host of possible replacements, as well as rumours that Craig has been offered astronomical sums of money to return for the next film, and now the actor has suggested that he may well be open to reprising the role during an appearance at the New Yorker Festival.

“They say that shit sticks, and that definitely stuck,” said Craig with regards to his “slash my wrists” comments (via Vulture). “It was the day after filming [stopped on Spectre].  I’d been away from home for a year. It’s a good gig. I enjoy it. There’s been no conversations. Everyone’s just a bit tired. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve got the best job in the world. I’ll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it. If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly.”

Last month, producer Callum McDougall revealed that Craig is “absolutely the first choice” of Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to remain in the role, and so assuming a deal can be reached, it looks like Craig may well be back for Bond 25 after all.
