Greg Berlanti set to direct Little Shop of Horrors remake

December 8, 2016 by Ricky Church

The mind behind The CW’s Arrow-verse will be moving onto a feature length project soon. Deadline has revealed that Greg Berlanti has been hired by Warner Bros. to direct a remake of the cult classic Little Shop of Horrors.

In Little Shop of Horrors, Seymour, a lonely shopkeeper, discovers that a mysterious plant he found only grows by consuming blood. As it matures, Seymour finds even more success and opportunities, but the plant’s increasing hunger becomes too much for Seymour to handle.

The 1986 musical film starred Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene, and Steve Martin with a cameo by Bill Murray and was directed by Yoda himself, Frank Oz. This new Little Shop of Horrors film is the latest in a long line of adaptations: the 80s movie was adapted from the Broadway musical which in turn was adapted from a low-budget 1960 film directed by Roger Corman.

As of now, Berlanti is the only person attached to the project, which is yet to receive a release date. He is also slated to direct a Booster Gold movie, which he has said be separate from the rest of Warner’s DC Extended Universe.
