Lindsay Lohan is “trying so hard” to get a Mean Girls sequel off the ground

December 31, 2016 by Gary Collinson

This probably won’t come as too much of a surprise given her career trajectory following the release of the 2004 movie, but Lindsay Lohan has revealed that she’s “trying so hard” to get a Mean Girls sequel off the ground and has even penned a treatment.

“I have been trying so hard to do a Mean Girls 2,” said Lohan during a Facebook Live chat with CNN. “It is not in my hands. I know that [writer] Tina Fey and [producer] Lorne Michaels and all of Paramount are very busy… I will keep forcing it and pushing it on them until we do it. I would love to have Jamie Lee Curtis and Jimmy Fallon in the movie. I’ve already written a treatment for it, so I just need a response.”

Mean Girls saw Lohan playing Cady Heron, a homeschooled teenager who joins a high school and is welcomed into the most popular clique, the Plastics, played by Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfriend and Lacey Chabert. The cult hit was followed by a 2011 direct-to-video sequel, which presumably slipped under Lohan’s radar.
