International titles for Star Wars: Episode VIII reveal The Last Jedi is plural

February 18, 2017 by Gary Collinson

From the moment the title was announced last month, there’s been intense debate as to whether the ‘Last Jedi’ in Star Wars: The Last Jedi relates to Luke Skywalker, or if it’s referring to more than one Jedi.

Well, it seems we now have our answer, as the French, Italian and Spanish language posters have revealed the international titles as Les Derniers Jedi, Gli Ultimi Jedi and Los Ultimos Jedi, with ‘Les’, ‘Gli’ and ‘Los’ being used when the following noun is plural.

So, given that it’s plural, we’re presumably we’re talking about Luke and Rey with ‘The Last Jedi’, seeing as Yoda told Luke he was the last of the ancient order in Return of the Jedi, and Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren slaughtered Luke’s new recruits prior to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Or is it possible there are other Jedi Knights out there?
