Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 confirmed to take place after the events of Avengers 4

May 3, 2017 by Jordan Jones

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the events of Avengers 4, and what waits beyond for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Kevin Feige suggesting that we’ll see a rise in prominence for the cosmic side of the MCU.

James Gunn recently revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will likely be the current team’s last mission, and we now have confirmation for when that movie will take place. Gunn took to Twitter today, and answered a fan’s question regarding the time-frame for the third movie:

As Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes place in 2014, that means we’ll be looking at a four or five year gap between the second and third movies.

It will be a very long time before we get any real news about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Luckily, we have Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to get our fill of cosmic action for the time being.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 sees director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime), Sean Gunn (Kraglin) and Laura Haddock (Meredith Quill) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Ayesha, Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan (The Drop) as Taserface, Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) as Tullk and Sylvester Stallone (Creed) as Stakar.
