James Gunn confirms return of Elizabeth Debicki’s Ayesha for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

May 9, 2017 by Robert Kojder

Fair warning, the following story will contain spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

With that out of the way, one of the five post-credit scenes for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 sees the Sovereign leader Ayesha (played by Elizabeth Debicki) about to unleash the creation of Adam Warlock. A development such as that makes it seem as if the character is set to return for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (which James Gunn has already started writing and will be returning to direct), but now there is a confirmation.

Speaking to IGN, Gunn was asked about the particular post-credit sequence and replied: “I absolutely plan on bringing Elizabeth Debicki back. She’s actually one of my favorite actors I’ve ever worked with. I think on this movie between her, Pom Klementieff who plays Mantis, and Chris Sullivan who plays Taserface, they really were three of the best actors I’ve ever worked with and were all such a joy on this film to deal with that I would love to deal with them again.”

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is out now and sees director James Gunn reuniting with returning cast members Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Glenn Close (Nova Prime), Sean Gunn (Kraglin) and Laura Haddock (Meredith Quill) alongside new additions Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) as Ayesha, Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight) as Ego the Living Planet, Chris Sullivan (The Drop) as Taserface, Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy) as Tullk and Sylvester Stallone (Creed) as Stakar.
