Rumour: Leia and Snoke to have a showdown in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

May 2, 2017 by Gary Collinson

On one end of the Star Wars rumour spectrum, you have generally reliable sources such as Making Star Wars, and on the other you have random posters dropping “insider knowledge” on Reddit. This latest report about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, highlighted by Nerdist, comes from the latter, and so while there may be some truth to it, it could also very easily be a complete fabrication.

So, according to the rumour, Carrie Fisher’s General Leia will find herself captured by the First Order in the first act of The Last Jedi, where she is taken aboard a Super Star Destroyer occupied by the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke. The poster goes on to claim that: “Phasma presents her to Snoke. Snoke and Leia trade barbs and Snoke is angry by the mention of Luke returning by the end of the conversation. He has Leia thrown in a holding cell. He brings up Hux on a hologram and tells him to inform Kylo Ren they have his mother.”

Despite the questionable source, the rumour certainly sounds plausible, and should it prove true it will presumably lead to a reunion between Leia and Kylo Ren later in the film – a scene I’m sure we’re all hoping that Lucasfilm got in the can before the sad passing of Carrie Fisher back in December.
