Julia Roberts joins Mr. Robot creator’s new series Homecoming

June 6, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Following on from the news that HBO has snapped up the Julia Roberts-headlined event series Today Will Be Different, it is now being reported that the Oscar-winning actress is in talks for another small screen project in Homecoming, the new drama series from Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.

Based on Gimlet Media’s fictional podcast of the same name, Homecoming is being produced by Universal Cable Productions and Anonymous Content, and is described as a political thriller that centers on a caseworker at a secret government facility, her supervisor, and a soldier.

The Homecoming podcast launched in November and is presented as a series of telephone calls, therapy sessions and overhead conversations. The cast included Catherine Kenner, Oscar Isaac, David Schwimmer, Amy Sedaris and David Cross. The TV adaptation is being produced by Esmail alongside Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, creators of the original podcast.
