Atari announces new console called the Ataribox

July 18, 2017 by Villordsutch

When you think of gaming these days you think PS4, Xbox One, PC or Switch; what you probably don’t think is back to the early days of a faux wooden panelled Atari 2600, the console that truly started the ball rolling when it came to home entertainment for millions of homes.  Well now thanks to the success of the NES Mini and such like, Atari are unleashing upon the gaming community the Ataribox and it looks rather stylish indeed.

Though nobody at this time actually knows what Atari intends on doing with their upcoming machine, that comes with an SD Card slot, HDMI Output and numerous USB slots.  It has been mooted by the Atari Project Teams that the Ataribox, ““…will be delivering classic gaming content, we will also be delivering current gaming content.”, this may be possible due to the fact a second model – other than the wooden fronted model – has been pictured “the black plastic model” showing an ethernet port at the back of the device.

It’s going to be an interesting few months seeing what this classic hardware and software house can deliver in today’s world of 4K machines.
