Beetlejuice 2 gets a new writer

October 13, 2017 by Ricky Church

The long-in-development Beetlejuice 2, the sequel to Tim Burton and Michael Keaton’s cult hit, has gained a screenwriter over at Warner Bros. Per Deadline, the studio has hired Mike Vukadinovich (Rememory) to pen the script with Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg producing.

Burton and Keaton have not signed any deals for the sequel yet, but Deadline claims that the pair are excited at the prospect of re-teaming for the film. They are currently shooting the live action Dumbo for Disney together, with Keaton starring as V.A. Vandemere, the ruthless circus ringleader who want to exploit Dumbo.

The original film was released in 1988 and starred Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Genna Davis, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara and Jeffery Jones. Baldwin and Davis were ghosts who hire Betelguise (pronounced Beetljuice) to scare away the occupants of their old home until Beetlejuice’s antics get out of hand. The film spawned an animated series while Burton and Keaton went on to reunite for Batman and Batman Returns.
