2017’s Jumanji adds Tim Matheson to its cast

December 7, 2016 by Justin Cook

According to Deadline, actor Tim Matheson is the latest addition to the cast of Sony’s Dwayne Johnson-led Jumanji reimagining/sequel. Matheson has signed on to play the role of Old Man Vreeke; no details were given on the character or how he relates to the film’s plot.

It appeared as if the Jumanji cast had already been rounded out after Annie and Boardwalk Empire actor Bobby Cannavale came on board in November, but clearly, that was not the case. Seeing as how filming on Jumanji began in September, one would assume that Matheson will be the last major cast addition since production should be finishing up soon.

Matheson has had a career that spans over five decades, first getting into the business as a teenager in the 60s and appearing on such shows as Leave It to Beaver, Jonny Quest and My Three Sons. The Emmy-nominated actor, who has over 150 acting credits to his names, however, is best known for his roles in Animal House, Van Wilder: Party Liaison, The West Wing, Hart of Dixie, Burn Notice and Killing Reagan.

Jumanji is set for release on December 22nd 2017 and sees Jake Kasdan (Sex Tape) directing a cast that includes Dwayne Johnson (Fast & Furious 7), Kevin Hart (Central Intelligence), Jack Black (Goosebumps), Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy), Rhys Darby (Hunt for the Wilderpeople), Nick Jonas (Scream Queens), Alex Wolff (The Sitter), Madison Iseman (Still the King), Morgan Turner (Remember Me) and Ser’Darius Blain (Star Trek Into Darkness).
