John Cena in talks to star as Duke Nukem for Michael Bay

January 23, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

Originally published January 23, 2018. Updated April 11, 2018.

The videogame to movie debate is a tale as old as time, but if there was ever a more perfect marriage of material than Michael Bay and Duke Nukem, then somebody had better announce David Ayer and Grand Theft Auto before this sentence is finished.

The Hollywood Reporter have revealed that the flat top sporting star of the 90s first-person-shooter, Duke Nukem, will follow-up his appearance as one of the retro Easter-eggs in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, by getting his own movie from Paramount, with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes company producing.

The early word is that John Cena (Bumblebee: The Movie, Ferdinand) will take on the role made famous by the 1991 Apogee Software game. At the moment there is no script, but you can bet your last life on the fact they’ll be Ray-Bans, cigar chomping, and alien kickassery in the most unsubtle way imaginable.
