Star Wars: The Last Jedi climbs to $1.2 billion worldwide

January 7, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Despite a rather disappointing opening of just $28.7 million in China, Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi has now pushed its global haul to $1.205 billion.

The Rian Johnson-directed sequel slipped to third in the domestic box office chart this weekend behind Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Insidious: The Last Key, but still managed to push its North American haul to $572.5 million. Internationally, it has earned a further $632.7 million.

The Last Jedi is now the thirteenth-biggest worldwide release of all time, but still trails fellow 2017 releases Beauty and the Beast ($1.264 billion) and The Fate of the Furious ($1.236 billion), although it will have presumably overtaken both of those by this time next weekend.
