Alex Garland has revealed details about his new FX sci-fi series

February 21, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Alex Garland, the director of Ex-Machina and the upcoming Annihilation, has revealed details and a title for his new FX sci-fi show.

Annihilation may be releasing this weekend in the US (in March for the UK on Netflix) but the director already has another exciting project in the pipeline — this time an eight-part sci-fi series for FX, entitled Devs.

Speaking with Collider, the director said: ““[It’s titled] Devs, as in Developers,” Garland explained. “It’s about a particular aspect of technology at the moment which is to do with very, very big data and very powerful processing power, and what can happen when you put the two things together. It’s set in San Francisco… a sort of tech story.”

Garland also said that the story is a complete one and doesn’t require multiple seasons: “If they (FX) want to carry it on, I guess they could… it’s a self-contained story though,” Garland said. “There’s ways you could carry it on. Hopefully shooting in about six months. I’ve started talking about casting, locations, practical stuff like that.”

Ex Machina certainly brought the director a lot of attention and fans of his work will certainly be eagerly anticipating Annihilation, staring Natalie Portman. But what about Devs? Does this sound like something you want to see from Garland?
