Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson reteam for sci-fi thriller Hummingbird

February 7, 2018 by Gary Collinson

In news coming out of the Berlin Film Market, Deadline is reporting that Milla Jovovich is set to headline the sci-fi action thriller Hummingbird, which is being directed by Marcus Kryler and Fredrik Akerstrom from a Black List script by John McClain. Jovovich’s husband, filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson, will pen revisions.

Hummingbird is described as “in the vein of Lucy and the Bourne films” and follows a female assassin whose latest mark catapults her on a journey of shocking self-discovery. The film was previously set up with Olivia Munn in the lead role.

Jovovich has recently completed filming on the Hellboy reboot, where she portrays the villainous Queen of Blood, and will next appear in Rob Reiner’s Shock and Awe opposite Woody Harrelson and Tommy Lee Jones.

Kryler and Akerstrom gained attention with their directing work on the cinematic content for EA’s Battlefield 1, and recently signed on to helm another sci-fi thriller, Reset, based upon their award-winning short of the same name.
