Why the new Flashpoint directors are so psyched to work on the project

February 13, 2018 by Jordan Jones

Flashpoint has the potential to be a really crazy film, and could actually serve as a fix for a number of the problems plaguing current state of the DC Cinematic Universe.

Being a film dealing with multiple timelines, the sky is really the limit for creating a boundary-breaking movie that can make some inspired choices with the current DC Films cast, and also introduce some crazy new characters. Flashpoint is also a chance for general audiences to be introduced to Flashpoint’s Batman, which is truly a great opportunity for any director/s.

So, how do the co-directing team of Jonathan Goldstein, and John Francis Daley feel about taking on such a cool opportunity? Talking to Cinemablend, the Spider Man: Homecoming writers explained why, exactly, they are so excited to work on the film:

“It’s really early days for us,” said Goldstein. “We’re still kind of making a deal. But we’re super excited just to be able to hopefully have this opportunity. Love the character – it would be a blast to get in there.”

“And just to be able to put our stamp on the superhero movie more than we did on Spider-Man: Homecoming even, because we were just writers on that,” added Daley. “Just to see a film like that to its end is really, really cool. So we’re super excited about it.”

Meanwhile, speaking to Collider, the duo explained how they were approached by Warner Bros., and what led them to Flashpoint:

“They gave us a list of DC properties and said, ‘Is there anything you’d be interested in?’, in no way promising us anything at all,” stated Daley, with Goldstein adding: “They were interested in us because of Game Night and Spider-Man. Because of that combination they did kind of say, ‘We’d like you to consider one of our movies.’ So we read a number of the scripts, and [Flashpoint] was one—we’re huge fans of the character, I collected the comic books as a kid. It was an exciting possibility.”

Are you excited for Flashpoint as much as its directors? Let us know in the comments!
