James Gunn has confirmed a recently discovered Easter egg in Guardians of the Galaxy

March 27, 2018 by Samuel Brace

James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy, has confirmed another Easter egg for the Marvel film.

Guardians may be four years old now, and a sequel has come and gone, but fans are still pouring over the movie, looking for things they may have missed and Easter eggs planted by James Gunn (who has said that there are more to discover).

One fan believed that he had found one of these very Easter eggs, one not discovered by anyone else. Tweeting at Gunn to confirm its authenticity, the fan said:

“Stan Lee’s cameo in Guardians.  Two things. Firstly, the circled alien text spells ‘Excelsior!’ Secondly, that’s the SKRULL LANGUAGE! Haven’t seen this spoken about anywhere else. @JamesGunn @MarvelStudios”

It turns out that the fan was right, with Gunn confirming as such in his response that yes, this is indeed Stan Lee’s catchphrase hidden in the film: “Ok this is an actual Easter egg that hasn’t been found but it is not THE  Easter egg. That said, I think you deserve a No-Prize AND it shows there are still Easter eggs to be found in the #GotG films, despite the doubters.”

Whether or not anyone will find “THE” Easter egg that Gunn is referring to remains to be seen, but it must be buried pretty deep if it has been so far undiscovered.
