Solo: A Star Wars Story’s Donald Glover prefers Kylo Ren to Darth Vader

May 24, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Star of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Donald Glover, has said that he likes Kylo Ren more than Darth Vader.

Vader is one of the most iconic villains in movie history and the character’s tragic story was only added to with the prequel series centered on his fall from grace. Kylo Ren is the latest bad guy to enter the fray, serving as the main antagonist in the sequel trilogy.

With the history Vader has behind him, there aren’t many fans that would pick Adam Driver’s character over the man once known as Anakin Skywalker, but this is exactly what Donald Glover has done.

Glover is set to play a young Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story, and during a recent interview with Noisey (via IndieWire), the actor was asked which character he liked the most: Darth Maul, Darth Vader, or Kylo Ren:

“Kylo Ren has a really interesting sense of humor. He’s intense, I get his story. So I kind of have to go with Kylo Ren.”

Darth Maul only appeared in the one live action film, so it’s understandable why Glover might have gone with Kylo Ren over this particular villain but choosing Anakin’s grandson over Vader himself is certainly an eye-catching remark.
