Zoe Saldana has shared her reaction to Gamora’s role in Avengers: Infinity War

May 1, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Warning. Spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War follow…

For those who have now seen Infinity War, which from the box office receipts would suggest that’s pretty much everyone, you will likely be thinking about one of the most dramatic moments in the movie where Thanos sacrifices his daughter Gamora to obtain the soul gem.

It was an emotional moment and seemingly the end of actress Zoe Saldana’s time in the MCU. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times about how she took the news that her character would be killed off, Saldana said:

“I learned very early on. The producers called me and they told me. And of course there’s a shock to your system. I’m so grateful, this run has been amazing, but you’re so not even ready for that. But then once some of the things were discussed, I understood that it just makes sense. In order for you to understand the degree of evil that lies within the core of Thanos, you have to circle in on his own children. So I completely understood. I loved being a part of this unforgettable journey.”

Of course, with the Time Stone in play, there’s a chance that Gamora could return in the future, perhaps in Avengers 4. But you wouldn’t expect the actress to give anything like that away so soon after Infinity War’s release.
