Venom director teases Spider-Man cameo and comments on Tom Hardy’s dual performance

June 14, 2018 by Samuel Brace

The director of Venom, Ruben Fleischer, has commented on the chances of a Spider-Man cameo and how Tom Hardy has something of a dual role in the movie.

Venom is certainly an interesting proposition. Not only is the film starring the villainous Venom without his arch-nemesis but it also has little to do with the MCU. Fans are excited none the less, hoping to see the hugely popular character done justice on the big screen.

Although Spider-Man isn’t billed as being involved in the film, there have been rumours that Tom Holland’s Peter Parker might make some sort of cameo. Is this true?

Well, director of Venom, Ruben Fleischer, was asked about the prospect by Empire (via Comic Book Movie) but declined to give a straight answer:

“This feels very much like Venom’s movie. It’s the introduction of the character. As to where it will go in future movies, and who he’ll run across, I can’t say.”

The director also spoke about star Tom Hardy’s performance, touching on his ability to play such a fractured individual, saying: “Venom is really the combination of two beings to create a third.

“Tom’s just so incredibly entertaining to watch. Duality is clearly something that fascinates him, so when you watch the way he’s acting opposite himself, it’s really impressive; just how he’s able to conjure an entirely separate version of himself as the symbiote. It’s a tour de force performance.”

What do you make of Fleischer’s comments? Are you hoping for a Spider-Man cameo or do you think Venom can manage without him?
