Bill Skarsgard says working with adult actors in It: Chapter Two is “weird” and “surreal”

July 17, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Bill Skarsgard, the actor behind Pennywise, has spoken about how different things are working with the adult actors in It: Chapter Two compared to the kids of the first film.

The sequel to 2017’s It is going to be a big event in the horror calendar and it comes with an extra layer of interest as we will get to see the newly cast adult actors step into roles played by the child actors first time around.

Pennywise is, of course, a very scary entity to a child but what is it going to be like seeing him interact with the adults? Well, Bill Skarsgard spoke to Collider about how different things are:

“Off camera, I get to hang out with the entire adult cast now. It’s weird and it’s surreal because some of them are really big stars and they’re coming in to your thing. They’re stepping into the thing that me and [director] Andy [Muschietti] and the kids did. They’re joining the band, in a way. They’re excited, and I just had a lot of fun hanging out with all of them. It’s going to be a very different shooting experience with all adults, for sure, but it will be fun. They’re all really cool and talented people, so I think they will bring a lot to the table.”

Are you excited to see how different the sequel will be with adults battling Pennywise instead of the kids? There’s no doubt that It: Chapter Two will have a very different feel about it.

It: Chapter Two will see Bill Skarsgard reprising his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, while Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff and Chosen Jacobs are also expected to reprise their roles from the first movie in flashback sequences. Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain (Beverley), James McAvoy (Bill), Bill Hader (Richie), James Ransone (Eddie), Andy Bean (Stanley), Jay Ryan (Ben) and Isaiah Mustafa (Mike) star as the adult versions of The Losers Club.

It: Chapter Two will be released on September 6th, 2019.
