Fox invites fans to produce their own short film to celebrate Alien’s 40th anniversary

July 1, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Next year marks the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s classic sci-fi horror Alien, and 20th Century Fox is marking the occasion by inviting fans and budding filmmakers to produce their very own short film set within the Alien universe.

In celebration of the upcoming 40th anniversary, @20thcenturyfox is inviting fans through the @tongal community to create their own #ALIEN short films. Learn more at https://t.co/ETyR8EcKSG pic.twitter.com/6xutfB6Q2z

In order to enter the contest, applicants are invited to pitch a five to nine-minute short which keeps the suspenseful, visceral, claustrophobic and intense tone of the original Alien movie, as well as an underdog character and the Alien in some form of its life cycle.

From these entries, Fox’s partner Tongal will select 18 filmmakers to proceed into the pitch phase, where they will further develop their pitch, with six ultimately receiving the green light to go on and produce their shorts.

For more information and the full brief, visit the official site on Tongal here – and good luck to those who enter!
