X-Men: Dark Phoenix reshoots reportedly taking place in August and September

July 28, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Back in March it was announced that 20th Century Fox had pushed back the release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix from November 2nd of this year to February 14th 2019, with the film set to undergo “significant” reshoots based on feedback from a test screening.

The reason for the delay in reshoots was due to cast availability, but it seems schedules have now cleared up as Revenge of the Fans is reporting that director Simon Kinberg and the cast are heading back to Montreal this August. The reshoots will reportedly run through to September, and that “whole set pieces are actively being constructed for this additional photography”.

Assuming this report is true, it appears to debunk the recent report claiming that Fox has decided to scrap both X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants, as the studio would obviously not bother with additional photography on a movie it had no intention of releasing.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set for release on February 14th 2019 and sees Simon Kinberg directing a cast that includes franchise veterans Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor X), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver) alongside new additions Jessica Chastain (Molly’s Game) and Lamar Johnson (Kings).
