Domhnall Gleeson is scared of giving away Star Wars: Episode IX secrets after reading the script

August 30, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Domhnall Gleeson, one of the stars of Star Wars: Episode IX, has said that he regrets reading the script in case he accidentally spoils the film.

Star Wars is without question one of the most secretive movie franchises in the industry, with each future film’s secrets guarded closely in order to surprise audiences upon release.

The next Star Wars film on the schedule is Episode IX in December 2019 but considering how far the film is from premiering, actor Domhnall Gleeson (who plays General Hux) has told the Happy Sad Confused podcast (via ComicBook.com) that he regrets reading the script, for now he has to guard its secrets:

“I made the terrible mistake of reading the script, I know everything. The nightmare is falling asleep on public transport… The nightmare is you wake up on a plane and someone’s dictating. You wake up and your mouth is shaping words, you wake up and you’re like ‘Skywalker did this.’ And then you realize you don’t know how long you’ve been speaking, and there’s a kid filming, there’s somebody writing it down. And because you’re in the air, you say ‘We need to have a talk before we land, I can access my bank account.’”

Gleeson is obviously half joking about how afraid he would be to reveal plot points for Episode IX due to the wrath of Lucasfilm, but there is no question he needs to be on his best behaviour, for every interview he gives will include questions about the upcoming film.
