Jennifer Esposito joins Amazon’s superhero drama The Boys

August 31, 2018 by Ricky Church

Amazon’s upcoming superhero drama adaptation of The Boys has just cast Jennifer Esposito (NCIS) in a recurring role for the Eric Kripke (Supernatural), Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Preacher) produced series.

Esposito will appear in five episodes this season as CIA Agent Susan Raynor. She shares a complicated dynamic with Billy Butcher (Karl Urban). Susan and Billy hate each other, but they also have a destructive sexual relationship as well. In theory, Susan has authority over Billy and his team. But the Boys ultimately answer to no one but themselves.

Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book of the same name, The Boys takes place in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and follows a group of vigilantes known as ‘The Boys’, who take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

The Boys is set to hit Amazon Prime in 2019 and features a cast that includes Karl Urban (Thor: Ragnarok), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games), Karen Fukuhara (Suicide Squad), Laz Alonso (Traffik), Antony Starr (American Gothic), Dominique McElligott (The Last Tycoon), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), Erin Moriarty (True Detective), Jessie T. Usher (Independence Day: Resurgence), Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas), Jennifer Esposito (NCIS) and Nathan Mitchell (iZombie).
