Angelina Jolie to produce and star in frontier revenge thriller The Kept

September 22, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Angelina Jolie is set produce and star in an adaptation of James Scott’s 2014 frontier revenge novel The Kept, which is being scripted by Alice Birch (Lady Macbeth) for Imperative Entertainment.

The Kept is set in the winter of 1897 and will see Jolie portraying midwife Elspeth Howell, who returns to her isolated farm home to discover her husband and four of her children have been murdered by a trio of killers.

Before she can locate her surviving son, the twelve-year-old Caleb, Elspeth is shot herself, and young Caleb must tend to his mother until she has recovered enough to venture out into the frozen wilderness in search of the attackers.

Jolie was last seen on the big screen in 2015’s By the Sea, which she also wrote and directed. She has recently wrapped filming on the Disney sequel Maleficent II, and is currently shooting the fantasy adventure Come Away, which serves as a prequel to both Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.
