Chris Evans joins Rian Johnson’s murder mystery Knives Out

October 5, 2018 by Ricky Church

After completing production on Avengers 4 – and possibly the role of Captain America as well – Chris Evans has already joined another project. Deadline reports Evans has been cast in Rian Johnson’s (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) murder mystery Knives Out opposite current James Bond star Daniel Craig.

The film underwent a bidding war at the Toronto International Film Festival, for which Media Rights Capital won out for worldwide distribution. Johnson will direct from a script he wrote and will produce alongside his frequent collaborator Ram Bergman.

Johnson is said to be taking influence from the works of mystery novelist Agatha Christie, of whom he is an avowed fan. Christie is the creator of the detective Hercule Poirot and wrote several renowned mystery novels around him, such as Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile.

Not much is known about the film’s plot, but it is said to be a contemporary locked door mansion murder mystery in the vein of a whodunit style case. The film is expected to begin production before the end of the year.
