Rumour: Could an Alien TV show be about to burst onto a streaming service?

October 18, 2018 by Matt Rodgers

It’s worth taking the following with a pinch of salt, or you might react to this news like John Hurt and his bowl of pasta aboard the Sulaco, but Dread Central are reporting that a reliable source of YouTuber (Mr H) has revealed that an extension of the Alien brand is gestating, with the intention of finding a home on one of the streaming services.

With the future of the franchise up in the air after the crushing disappointment of Alien: Covenant, which turned in just over half of the worldwide gross of perceived failure Prometheus, it makes sense that the evolution of the beast would take place away from the big screen, for the time being at least.

The generous runtime afforded to television shows could allow for an extended exploration of the origin story that enticed Ridley Scott back into space, but which admittedly bored others, or it could provide a platform for Neill Blomkamp’s abandoned Alien project? Maybe a decent attempt at Alien vs. Predator on the small screen? The possibilities are endless.

Let us know how you’d like to see the xenomorph return to form. They might not be able to hear you scream in space, but there’s certainly a lot more of the black stuff for this universe to explore.
