Greg Berlanti to direct Rock Hudson biopic

November 11, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Not content with producing virtually every series on television, Love, Simon director Greg Berlanti has signed on for his latest big screen project, a biopic of Hollywood legend Rock Hudson for Universal Pictures.

Based on the upcoming Mark Griffin book All That Heaven Allows: A Biography of Rock Hudson, the film will explore the life of the Oscar-nominated actor and matinee idol, who passed away in 1985 aged 59, becoming the first major celebrity to die of an AIDS-related illness.

Berlanti – who recently set a record for the most-scripted series on the air at any one time in 15 – will take on directing duties on the biopic, as well as producing the film with Sarah Schechter for Berlanti Film Corp. and Sherry Marsh for Marsh Productions & Entertainment, Inc.
