Avengers: Endgame marketing may only show footage from the first act, suggests Kevin Feige

January 7, 2019 by Gary Collinson

In an age when trailers, TV spots and clips often deliver enough footage for fans to assemble a fairly accurate rough cut, it seems that Marvel Studios may be about to buck the trend this year with its marketing campaign for Avengers: Endgame.

Marvel has been extremely secretive when it comes to the Avengers: Infinity War follow-up, even keeping the title under wraps until the release of last month’s teaser trailer. The trailer itself gave very little away, seemingly restricting itself to footage from the first act of the movie, and according to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, we may have to wait until the film’s release before we see anything beyond that.

“I’d call it somewhat accurate,” said Feige when asked by MTV News if subsequent trailers and TV spots won’t feature anything from beyond the first fifteen to twenty minutes of the film. “As was the case with a lot of our films, this one, in particular, being able to generate a lot of excitement without giving away one of the many, many, many secrets. I think the Disney marketing team is the best in the world and we’ll be able to pull it off.”

Given the huge Infinity War cliffhanger and the hype for Avengers 4, Marvel is going to have an enormous hit on its hands regardless of its marketing campaign, and it will certainly be a refreshing change if the studio does manage to keep most of the film’s secrets a surprise until we get to see them play out on the big screen in April.
