Florence Pugh to join Scarlett Johansson in Marvel’s Black Widow

March 19, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It looks like we have our first piece of new casting news for Marvel’s Black Widow movie, with THR reporting that Lady Macbeth and Fighting With My Family star Florence Pugh is in talks to join Scarlett Johansson in the Marvel solo film.

Black Widow is described as “an internationally set story centering on Natasha Romanoff, a spy and assassin who grew up being trained by the KGB before breaking from their grasp and becoming an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and an Avenger.”

According to the outlet, Pugh will portray “a spy on the same level as Romanoff, likely her moral opposite”. She was previously rumoured to be a contender for a part in the film alongside Emma Watson (Beauty and the Beast), Alice Englert (Ginger & Rosa) and Dar Zuzovsky (Hostages).
