Marc Webb tapped to bring Disney’s live-action Snow White to life

May 31, 2019 by Matt Rodgers

With Aladdin currently surpassing critical and commercial expectations around the world, and The Lion King gearing up for a cinematic stampede on July 19th, Disney have been quick to announce details of another back-catalogue classic to receive the live-action treatment.

According to Variety‘s exclusive report, 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb is being lined up to whistle while he works on a remake of the 1938 animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

While nothing has been confirmed, The Amazing Spider-Man helmer is reported to be top choice for the Mouse House. Also in negotiations are The Girl on the Train screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson, along with La La Land and The Greatest Showman musical maestros, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Disney’s first full-length animated feature film, and was awarded with an honorary Oscar in 1939 for its landmark success.

Do you think this is a step too far in the live-action remake onslaught? Is Snow White too sacred to re-imagine? Let us know what you think using the comments section below or head over to our Flickering Myth Twitter feed @flickeringmyth to continue the discussion.
