Spider-Man: Far From Home tracking suggests huge six-day box office opening

June 14, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

UPDATE: According to the latest figures from Variety, Spider-Man: Far From Home is now said to be tracking a $154 million six-day opening over the July 4th weekend. Original story follows…

With a combined $3.6 billion and counting from Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame, 2019 has already proven itself to be a fantastic year at the box office for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it isn’t over just yet.

This July sees the release of the Marvel and Sony co-production Spider-Man: Far From Home, and early box office estimates are suggesting that the Tom Holland-headlined solo sequel can expect a nice Endgame bump when it opens across the Fourth of July holiday weekend in the States.

According to Box Office Pro, Far From Home can expect to pull in between $190 million and $230 million from its six-day opening (it hits cinemas on a Tuesday), with between $90 and $120 million over the Friday-Sunday period.

For comparison, Spider-Man: Homecoming debuted with $117 million on its way to a domestic haul of $334.2 million and $880.2 million worldwide. With that in mind, and the fact that Far From Home offers our first glimpse of the MCU post-Snap, then don’t be surprised if these early box office forecasts prove to be on the low end…
