Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite for Amazon horror-comedy Truth Seekers

August 5, 2019 by Ricky Church

Variety has revealed that Simon Pegg (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) and Nick Frost (Fighting with My Family) are set to reunite in Truth Seekers, a horror-comedy series they developed that has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video. The series is produced by Frost, Pegg and Miles Ketly’s production company Stolen Picture.

The series will see Frost and Pegg as a pair of paranormal hunters who search through the U.K. for ghost-sightings. Truth Seekers will run for eight half-hour episodes in its first season with Pegg and Frost co-writing alongside Nat Saunders and James Serafinowicz. Ketley will executive producer the series with Saunders, Serafinowicz and Jim Field Smith, the last of whom will direct the eight episodes.

Frost will play Gus, “one half of a ghost-hunting, duo who team up to uncover and film paranormal sightings across the U.K. in the series. They stake out haunted churches, underground bunkers, and abandoned hospitals using an array of homemade ghost-detecting gizmos and share their adventures on an online channel. Their supernatural experiences grow more frequent, terrifying, and even deadly as the pair begin to uncover a conspiracy that could threaten the entire human race.” Pegg’ will portray Dave, though there is no more information regarding his character.

“Simon, Miles and I, and everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making Truth Seekers with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video,” Frost said. “It’s been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon’s commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn’t be collaborating with a bigger or better team.”

“Nick and I are delighted that Truth Seekers has found a home with Amazon Prime Video. We’re looking forward to working closely with them and creating something very special. These are truly exciting times for television, and I can’t think of a better partner than Amazon to accompany us on a return to the smaller screen.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with Simon, Nick and the entire team at Stolen Picture to make what is set to be the next thrilling Amazon Original series for Prime Video made by leading British talent,” said Georgia Brown, director of European Amazon Original Series.

This will mark the first time in several years Pegg and Frost have worked on a project together. The duo have starred in all three of Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy, which include Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End.

Production on Truth Seekers will begin in September. More casting is expected to be announced soon.
