The Simpsons producers confirm movie sequel talks with Disney, potential spinoff shows

August 28, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Producers of The Simpsons, Al Jean and Matt Selman, have confirmed that they are talking to Disney about a movie sequel.

Fans of The Simpsons are delighted to hear talk of a sequel to The Simpsons Movie and now two producers for the show have confirmed that talks are indeed underway to bring the beloved franchise back to the big screen.

Now that Disney owns the franchise, the producers were at D23 and spoke about the future. Variety reports that executive producer Al Jean responded to a question about a new movie, saying they “have talked about it”.

Matt Selman also said: “I think Disney would be supportive of anything we wanted to do, maybe a crazy limited series with a side character or a movie that we surprised you with, they’ve been really creatively supportive and this is going to afford so many new ways to do the show than just the traditional format.”
