After teasing fans with the release of a sizzle reel during last month’s D23 Expo, it seems that Disney and Lucasfilm are gearing up to give us our best look yet at December’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with the impending launch of the main trailer.
As reported by Dark Horizons, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has rated the new trailer, dubbed ‘Trailer C’, which has been given a 12A certificate and runs for 2 minutes and 16 seconds.
Both the main trailers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi were released in October so it stands to reason that The Rise of Skywalker could follow suit by dropping the trailer next month; however, given this classification, there’s certainly a chance it may be with us earlier than that.
The first teaser trailer and the D23 sizzle offered very little in the way of plot details, although the latter did cause a stir with a brief shot of ‘Dark Rey’. Whether we’ll see any similar big reveals (the on screen return of the Emperor, perhaps?) in the main trailer, we shall see…
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for release on December 20th 2019 with J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
