James Wan to produce Dylan Dog TV series

October 12, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Last year it was announced that Italian comic book publisher Sergio Bonelli Editore was in development on a live-action, English-language Dylan Dog series, and now comes word from Variety that Aquaman director James Wan is set to produce the project through his Atomic Monster banner.

“James Wan and Atomic Monster are masters of the horror genre and have a proven sensibility on how best to adapt comics to the screen,” said the publisher’s president Davide Bonelli. “We are so thrilled to have this dream team working on one of our most important characters.”.

Created by Tiziano Scalvi and launching in 1986, Dylan Dog follows the title character, a paranormal investigator who explores various cases involving monsters, ghosts, vampires, werewolves and zombies.

Wan recently served as executive producer on the cancelled DC Universe series Swamp Thing, while his upcoming producing credits include The Conjuring 3 and Mortal Kombat. He is also currently shooting his latest directorial offering Malignant, which stars Maddie Hasson, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Abel, George Young, Michole Briana White and Jacqueline McKenzie.
