Zachary Levi, star of Shazam!, has heaped praise on DC’s Joker, calling it more than just a great comic book movie.
It’s fair to say that the general public is quite enjoying DC’s Joker. While critics seem somewhat divided, audiences are lapping it up at the box office. It’s not just the general public, however, as Shazam himself is a fan.
Zachary Levi, star of Shazam!, has taken to Instagram to praise his colleagues at DC for their work on Joker: “Y’all, if you’re not faint of heart, and appreciate real, gritty, excellent cinema, go see Joker. It’s not just a great comic book movie, it’s a great movie. Period. Full stop. Massive kudos to [Todd Phillips] and [Joaquin Phoenix] and everyone involved in bringing it to life. And a huge congrats to my DC Comics fam for yet another winner.”
DC does seem to be on a roll at the moment, cranking out box office hits and pleasing fans in the process. We will see if they can keep their streak up with Birds of Prey in 2020.
Joker centres around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study but also a broader cautionary tale.
Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix (The Sisters Brothers), Robert De Niro (Goodfellas), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Bill Camp (Red Sparrow), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Brett Cullen (Narcos), Glenn Fleshler (Billions), Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful), Marc Maron (GLOW), Josh Pais (Motherless Brooklyn), Shea Whigham (Kong: Skull Island), Douglas Hodge (Robin Hood) and Dante Pereira-Olson (You Were Never Really Here).
