The Batman and other UK productions could resume filming soon

May 13, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Deadline is reporting that The Batman and other UK productions could resume filming soon thanks to new developments in the country.

Films all around the world have been put on hold and their productions suspended thanks to the global health crisis. This includes some big blockbusters shooting in the UK such as DC’s The Batman.

However, it seems that filming on the moves could get back underway soon thanks to the UK relaxing certain rules regarding the lockdown. Measures are being relaxed across the nation and this will mean that shooting is possible again accord to Deadline (via ScreenRant).

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport is apparently encouraging film and TV industries to return to work as soon as possible as long as strict health and social distancing measures are in place.

A spokesperson for the department said: “The government is working closely with the screen sector to understand how different types of productions can comply with social distancing guidelines, and give confidence to people in the TV and film industries that there are safe ways in which they can return to work.”

It will be interesting to hear how the strict precautions necessary to keep people safe impact the crew’s capability to film these movies. Hopefully, however, this is a sign that films like The Batman and Disney’s The Little Mermaid can get back on track soon.

The Batman sees Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) donning the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro (The Big Lebowski) as Carmine Falcone, Alex Ferns (Chernobyl) as Commissioner Pete Savage, Con O’Neill (Ordinary Lies) as Chief Mackenzie Bock, Peter Sarsgaard (The Killing) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson and Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor) as Bella Real.
