District 9 coming to 4K Ultra HD this October

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that Neill Blomkamp’s cult 2009 sci-fi District 9 is set for 4k Ultra HD release on October 19th; check out the cover artwork and bonus feature details here…

From writer/director Neill Blomkamp (Chappie) comes the startlingly original science fiction thriller DISTRICT 9 debuting on 4k Ultra HD on October 19 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Starring Sharlto Copley (Chappie, TV’s Powers) and produced by Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) DISTRICT 9 was nominated for four 2009 Academy Awards® including Best Picture.

With stunning special effects and gritty realism, the film plunges us into a world where the aliens have landed… only to be exiled to a slum on the fringes of Johannesburg. Now, one lone human discovers the mysterious secret of the extraterrestrial weapon technology. Hunted and hounded through the bizarre back alleys of an alien shantytown, he will discover what it means to be the ultimate outsider on your own planet.
