Vin Diesel is committed to Fast & Furious 9 theatrical release

January 6, 2021 by Samuel Brace

Despite the global health crisis, Vin Diesel is committed to Fast & Furious 9 getting a theatrical release this spring.

With so many films being delayed, brought to streaming services, or just releasing theatrically to much smaller audiences, actor Vin Diesel is still pushing for F9 to come to theatres this May.

Speaking to Total Film (via GamesRadar), the actor shared: “I’m so committed to the theatrical experience. Obviously, I’ve dedicated my life to [the cinema]. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that we’re going to be there on May 28 with a movie that everybody is going to want to see together.”

Hopefully, by the time the film arrives in May, much of the population will have been vaccinated against the virus making it easier to relax restrictions and for audiences to head to cinemas. Theatre chains will certainly be banking on big releases like this to keep afloat after a disastrous 2020.

Fast & Furious 9 sees Justin Lin directing series veterans Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren, along with franchise newcomers John Cena (Bumblebee), Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders), Anna Sawai (Ninja Assassin), Vinnie Bennett (Ghost in the Shell), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Cardi B (Hustlers), MMA fighter Francis Ngannou, and singer Ozuna.
