John Carpenter calls Halloween Kills the “ultimate slasher”

February 4, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Although the film has been delayed to October 2021 as a result of the ongoing global health crisis, John Carpenter has once again praised the upcoming Halloween sequel Halloween Kills – which is directed by David Gordon Green.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Carpenter, who is set to return to compose the music for Halloween Kills, has labelled the upcoming horror sequel as “the ultimate slasher.”

“It’s brilliant. It’s the ultimate slasher,” Carpenter said. “I mean, there’s nothing more than this one. Wow! Man.”

This isn’t the first time that Carpenter has provided positive comments on Halloween Kills after previously called the sequel “the quintessential slasher film” while also teasing that it will be “a slasher movie times one hundred.”

Carpenter isn’t the only member of the creative team to share their overwhelmingly positive thoughts on the film as Jamie Lee Curtis, who is set to once again portray Laurie Strode, called the sequel “a masterpiece”, while co-writer Scott Teems has said the script is “the bigger, badder, meaner version of the first one,” and Michael Myers actor James Jude Courtney described Halloween Kills as “Halloween on speed.”

Although plot details are currently being kept under wraps for Halloween Kills, Jamie Lee Curtis has previously described the film as a “mob movie.” The film has earned an R rating for “strong bloody violence throughout, grisly images, language, and some drug use.”
