As reported by Screen Daily (via Bloody Disgusting), Oscar-winning filmmaker Michel Hazanavicius (The Artist) has kicked off production on a French remake of the cult 2017 Japanese zombie horror-comedy One Cut of the Dead.
As with the original, the remake – titled Final Cut internationally and Comme Z in France – will follow the cast and crew of a micro-budget zombie film who find themselves in the middle of an actual zombie apocalypse. Here’s the synopsis:
Set against the backdrop of a B-movie shoot that is descending into disaster, Duris plays the director who seems to be the only one invested with the necessary energy to keep the low-budget zombie film afloat. As he tries to work with jaded technicians and uninterested actors, shooting is disturbed by the arrival of authentic undead.”
Romain Duris (All the Money in the World) is leading the cast of the film alongside Hazanavicius’ wife Bérénice Bejo and daughter Simone Hazanavicius, as well as Grégory Gadebois, Finnegan Oldfield, Matilda Lutz, Sébastian Chassagne, Raphaël Quenard, Jean-Pascal Zadi, Lyes Salem, and Luana Bajrami.
