Growing up is a beast in the teaser trailer for Pixar’s Red Panda romp Turning Red

July 13, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Disney-Pixar once again deals with the kind of trials and tribulations of growing up that have made the likes of Inside Out instant classics, but in the case of Turning Red, the struggle is very much externalised as teenager Mei Lee gets transformed into a giant red panda whenever she feels anxious.

Directed by Domee Shi, who won an Academy Award for her charming Pixar short Bao, Turning Red features the voices of newcomer Rosalie Chiang and Killing Eve‘s Sandra Oh, and you can take a look at the teaser below….

Young actress Rosalie Chiang lends her voice to Mei Lee, a 13-year-old who suddenly ‘poofs’ into a giant red panda when she gets too excited (which is practically ALWAYS). Sandra Oh voices Mei Lee’s protective, if not slightly overbearing mother, Ming, who is never far from her daughter—an unfortunate reality for the teenager.”

Turning Red will be released in March 2022.
