Jenna Dewan returning to the Arrowverse as Lucy Lane in Superman & Lois

October 30, 2021 by Ricky Church

The second season of Superman & Lois will see a familiar face as Jenna Dewan will make her return to the CW’s Arrowverse as Lois Lane’s sister Lucy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dewan was cast as Lucy in the first season of Supergirl as a guest star. Lucy made frequent appearances as a major in the army and was made the temporary head of the DEO. She often worked alongside her father General Sam Lane, who had a distrust of aliens and Supergirl, something Lucy also shared.

Supergirl aired on CBS for its first season and when it moved to the CW for its second to better fold into the Arrowverse, Lucy was one of several characters who were written out of the show due to the production’s move from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Now with Dewan reprising her role, this will mark the first time the character has been used in the Arrowverse since Supergirl‘s first season as well as the first time since Smallville Lois and Lucy Lane have appeared in a series together.

Due to the changes brought to the Arrowverse by Crisis on Infinite Earths there is no telling yet how Dewan’s Lucy will be different from her initial appearances. Sam Lane, for instance, was played by Glenn Morshower and he is now played by Dylan Walsh in Superman & Lois and where Morshower’s Sam was strictly anti-alien, Walsh’s is much more tolerable of other aliens and not only has a fairly good working relationship with Superman, but is aware of his identity as Clark Kent and approves of Clark’s relationship with Lois, doing whatever it takes to protect his grandchildren as well. Time will tell if Dewan’s Lucy will also have softened or if her and Lois will retain their somewhat estranged relationship usually present in comics and other media.

Superman & Lois will premiere its second season in early 2022.
