Red Notice topples Bird Box to become Netflix’s most watched movie of all time

December 5, 2021 by Gary Collinson

It may be the most expensive Netflix movie of all time, but it seems that investment has paid off as star Dwayne Johnson has taken to social media to announce that the action comedy Red Notice has become the streaming service’s most watched film of all time.

Holy shit đŸ€Ż
RED NOTICE is now the most watched film in @netflix history.
Previous record held by BIRD BOX in 2018 with 282 million hours viewed.
With still 11 days to go, RED NOTICE has been viewed for 392 MILLION HOURS. F’n insane đŸ™đŸŸđŸ„ƒ@SevenBucksProd https://t.co/QQ3ygdVbUt

— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) November 30, 2021

As reported by CNN, the $200 million-budgeted Red Notice – which sees Johnson starring alongside Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot – has clocked up 329 million viewing hours (although the Rock’s tweet says 392 million), which smashes the previous record of 282 million viewing hours set by the Sandra Bullock-led Bird Box. It took just 18 days to surpass the record, with Netflix claiming that the Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed film has been viewed by 50% of its subscribers.

When an Interpol-issued Red Notice — the highest level warrant to hunt and capture the world’s most wanted— goes out, the FBI’s top profiler John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson) is on the case. His global pursuit finds him smack dab in the middle of a daring heist where he’s forced to partner with the world’s greatest art thief Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds) in order to catch the world’s most wanted art thief, “The Bishop” (Gal Gadot). The high-flying adventure that ensues takes the trio around the world, across the dance floor, trapped in a secluded prison, into the jungle and, worst of all for them, constantly into each other’s company.

Red Notice is available to stream now on Netflix.
