Thirty years after last portraying the character in Batman Returns, Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight will be back on the big screen this year as he joins the DC Extended Universe with an appearance in the multiverse-spanning Ezra Miller-led The Flash movie.
This won’t be a “one-and-done” outing either, as Keaton is currently back under the cape and cowl shooting HBO Max’s Batgirl film, and the actor has taken to social media to tease his return with a set photo showing the shadow he’s casting as he dons the Batsuit once again. Batgirl is directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys For Life) and stars Leslie Grace (In the Heights) as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, J.K. Simmons (Justice League) as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Micheal Keaton (The Flash) as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Brendan Fraser (Doom Patrol) as Firefly, Ivory Aquino (When They See Us) as Alysia Yeoh and Jacob Scipio (Bad Boys for Life), Rebecca Front (Avenue 5), Corey Johnson (Morbius) and Ethan Kai (Killing Eve) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
Batgirl is set to premiere directly on HBO Max as an HBO Max Original.
