Patrick Wilson-directed Insidious 5 gets a 2023 release date

July 20, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Blumhouse have decided that Patrick Wilson will return to ‘the further’ with Insidious 5 as soon as July 7th next year.

The Conjuring franchise has made over $2 billion at the box-office, but the origin of that cinematic universe success can be traced back to the Insidious franchise, which started with 2010’s superb original and has gone on to gross over $500M with its sequels of varying quality.

The reason to get excited about Insidious 5 is that it will see first-time director Patrick Wilson and Ty Simpkins (Jurassic World) reprising their roles as Josh Lambert and Dalton Lambert, and will pick up ten years on from the last film as Dalton begins college. Franchise creators James Wan (Malignant) and Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man) will produce, from a script by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills).
